This splendid little book caught my eye with its great opening line “It’s time for bed. Who needs to be tucked in?” I feel one of the greatest pleasures in life is getting tucked into bed…who doesn’t love it?
This very simple book is reminiscent of Goodnight Moon. The repetitious refrain of “Who else needs to be tucked in?” will be easy for children to follow. Cleverly combining that repetition with lift the flap blankets makes for a fun and entertaining read for the younger crowd. Several read throughs of the book and the next thing you know your child will be asking the question themselves and enthusiastically “tucking” in the baby animals.
The illustrations are simple yet adorable. The illustrator also managed to interject some snazziness with the creative blankets to add some pop to the simple line drawn animals.
Squeals of “Ooooh!” and “Cute!” have greeted this book as I have shared it with co-workers and parents alike. I recommend this for both one on one sharing as well as sharing with a storytime group.
