The sounds of summer are everywhere in this celebration of the season. Clackity-clack, clackity-clack. Swish, swoosh, swish, swoosh. Bizzle-bzzz, bizzle-bzzz. A skateboard on the sidewalk, a hammock swinging between the trees, and a buzzing bumblebee are just some of the many different sounds one can hear during summer. All these sounds lead up to the most recognizable sound of summer, the fireworks of the Fourth of July.
Young children will enjoy reading about the many sounds of summer. Encourage them to close their eyes and try to identify what they hear. This story will take a little practice to read aloud because of the placement of the words on the page and the different fonts used. But it is definitely worth the effort.
