How much would you pay for nothing? In this story the main character goes in search of nothing because that is the only thing she is without. She is wealthy and has everything!! All of a sudden now everyone wants nothing and they want to get rid of their things in order to have nothing. What happens when an entire town now has nothing in their homes…no clothes, no furniture, no food? Will they ever want anything again?
Author/illustrator Agee uses watercolor washes and pencil art to show the cluttered rooms and the contrasting empty spaces as the townspeople replace their somethings with nothings.
Adults may discover a lesson in consumerism but children will respond to the silly way in which grown-ups behave.
