Well, I saw an ant on the railroad track,
The rail was bright.
The ant was black.
He was walking along, tickety-tack.
(That’s the sound of an ant on a railroad track.)
The little black ant is traveling the wrong way down a railroad track. The ant is on a mission to find itself a snack even it is means coming face to face with an oncoming train! The switchman begins to hear clickety-clack… (That is the sound of the train coming down the track!) Can the switchman save the day and steer the train in a different direction in order to save the ant?? I hope so…the ant only wants a small snack as he travels tickety-tack down the railroad track.
Pamintuan’s bold color caricatures with changing perspectives keep readers aware of the ant’s danger. The folksy rhyme would be a great read aloud.
