Another great story that is sure to be a big hit with pirate fans young and old. Jeremy Jacob, feeling bored and neglected by his parents, decides to take a crew of pirates up on their offer to join them. They need a “digger” on the crew to help them bury their treasure and Jeremy Jacob just happens to have that skill. Of course, he will need to be back in time for soccer practice the next day. After learning that “pirates don’t do anything they don’t want to,” Jeremy Jacob is disappointed to find out about all of the things pirates don’t do – like reading or tucking in at bedtime. The pirates tell Jeremy Jacob to let them know if he ever needs help, thus opening the door to more books involving the pirate crew. The acrylic illustrations by David Shannon are a real treat and bring the story to life. All of the pirate language is sure to inspire everyone’s inner pirate to let out an aargh every now and then.
