Author Steve Light always wanted to be Santa when he grew up. Luckily for us he wrote and illustrated this intriguing holiday story. The characters use problem-solving strategy so the story includes the gift of an educational component.
Humphrey is a giant and Leetree is an elf. They both live at the North Pole where their primary job is making wrapping paper for Santa’s workshop. One year they are given a special assignment – that of growing a holiday tree for Christmastown. They work closely together, plant the seed and succeed in planting a spectacular Christmas tree. They set off towards Christmastown, but, after all their work, they are so tired they fall asleep. Alas, the Christmas tree floats off on an iceberg! They think about what can be done! They finally cut, strip and paste their paper trimmings into a huge, pretty paper tree. Santa is enthralled to see the tree made out of their hand-made wrapping paper. “Aaaah! Oooohh! It is the best Christmas tree anyone has ever seen-especially Santa. Merry Christmas!”
Steve light has been teaching art to pre-schoolers for over ten years and has published eight childrens’ books. The Christmas Giant also has
