The Gentleman Bug takes place in a fanciful world called The Garden with funny place names such as Pollen Hill, Bugadilly Circus, and Queen’s Cross Station. Teased because he likes to spend all of his time reading, the Gentleman Bug decides to change in order to catch the eye of the new Lady Bug in the Garden. He decides that he must be more dapper and so gets fancy clothes. She is not impressed until he goes back to being himself. Teaching children the importance of self confidence and just being who you are is the moral of the story. This book would be great for preschool to early elementary because of the great social lesson it teaches young children.
