Illustrated in comic book style, The Bear relates the exploits of little girl who brings a real polar bear into her house. Of course, her parents think she is just play-acting, but we know better. At first, Tilly loves her new bear, but when he begins to make messes and gobble all the food up, Tilly starts to see how much responsibility an enormous bear is. What do you think will happen to Tilly, her parents, and the Bear? The illustrations created by the author are wonderfully done to show just how big the bear is, and just how big his messes are as well. I would recommend this book to 5-7 year olds or to anyone who ever imagined their teddy bear was real.
Raymond Briggs has successfully written and illustrated many picture books, including his most celebrated book The Snowman.
