This large format picture book retells the age-old story of a trio of pigs and a hungry wolf. And you will find it difficult to keep from laughing as you read.
A group of farm animals are displaced when the farmer and his wife retire to Florida. The pigs receive a retirement bonus and set out to make their way in the world. Meanwhile, the wolf comes into town to get a meal but he is refused service by the pizza parlor.
The wolf smells his way to the first pig’s house. When he is not invited in, he huffs and puffs and, to his surprise, he blows down the straw home. “I can’t believe that worked!” But the first pig escapes.
And so the story goes… But this is a book with a twist. After all, this is only a somewhat bad wolf. How will it end? You need to sit down with a child or a group of children and start reading.
The illustrations are bright with details that don’t clutter the images.
This is best for use with children who are already familiar with the original story. Or you may want to program it with several versions of this story for an older elementary group.
